When The Sun Goes Down…..

Arctic Monkeys = the ultimate indie-rock band!! ’When the sun goes down’ is Arctic Monkeys’ very first song that made me fell in love with them. It is hard to express how much I love this band, they’ve influenced me every now and then; though their current music is kinda different from their very first start, they still have the same identity. I had never heard Yorkshire accent before I heard this song, I was like, ‘Okay, I’m pretty sure this is British accent but it’s not a regular British accent’. Then I googled to find out more about Arctic Monkeys, later on I knew that it was Yorkshire accent. The first and second time hearing the song, I didn’t get the meaning. After seeing the video and browsing the lyrics, I understood the background of this song. To start with, this song is about a prostitute named ‘Roxanne’, funny how the name somehow related to The Police’ song called Roxanne which is also about a prostitute. The relation even makes it crystal clear that ‘when the sun goes down’ describing and illustrating some part of Roxanne’s life as a prostitute. Okay, enough with prostitution, Arctic Monkeys proved to the world that four young men in their early 20’s could break music’s world with their AWESOME debut album. Introducing the world to indie-rock, which was completely different music with mainstream bands back then. Their debut album became the fastest-selling debut album in British history (!!!); the debut album sold 363,735 copies in its first week of release.

What brought me back to Arctic Monkeys’ debut was actually my assignment. As I was clearing up my head to get more inspirations to finish my assignment, I had the urge to listen to Arctic Monkeys; it was last week at Le seminyak Pacific Place. To be honest, Le Seminyak is a reaaaaaaaaally great place, would be even greater if I wasn’t alone but nevermind. I ordered nasi campur vegetarian, which is obviously my all time favorite Balinese food! You can choose which rice you like; white rice, red rice, or like what I ordered, yellow rice. I’m a big fan of yellow rice and Le Seminyak has probably the best yellow rice I’ve ever tasted! The nasi campur vegetarian also comes with sate tempe, fried tofu, fried bakwan, and serundeng. If you come to Le Seminyak, you will love the interior design! It is so elegant and has Balinese design, which makes you want to fly to Bali immediately (Yes, that was how I felt). You’re wondering about the price? Well, it is not cheap, I spent Rp.55.000 on nasi campur vegetarian, but it was worth it! I highly recommend Le Seminyak for you, Balinese food lovers!

And they said it changes when the sun goes down,
Over the river going out to town
They said it changes when the sun goes down,
Around here
