Jazz, Chocolate Martini, and Then Some.

(BlackCat Jazz & Blues Club Jakarta)
It was a random night. A night with no special occasion. A night my boyfriend and I picked to go to Black Cat Jazz & Supper Club at Plaza Arcadia, Senayan. One of the few Jazz Clubs in Jakarta, serving Jazz Music throughout the days in the week.

I really like the place. I spent the last two New Year’s Eve there, celebrating with my parents through three course dinner, great jazz music, and champagne. The two NYE was both very memorable. I consider the place pretty special. And to go there with my boyfriend for the first time, it was something, and I never thought the time I finally did was with no specific reason whatsoever.

Entering the place, a live Jazz Band was playing. It was not a popular Band - I don’t even remember the name of, not like Idang Rasjidi or Barry Likumahuwa who played on the stage when I spent NYE there - but they were really good.

They were playing popular Jazz Songs, and there were something about the combination of the rhythm of Jazz and the singer who sang so beautifully, which really set the right mood. Immediately you just want to sit down, order great-looking food, the right drink, and talk all night long while enjoying the music – the perfect setting & mood for a Date Night.

It was a perfect night, the perfect Date. We talked, and laughed, without stopping to enjoy the music. The ambience was all very romantic; the dimmed light, the music (again, but really), and even the special birthday moment for an old lady sitting next to our table which was given a surprise birthday song by the band as requested by her husband. How sweet, how comforting to see that much amount of love so close to you.

To have a perfect night is never easy. To order the right food, the compatible drinks, choosing the right place, and everything in between. To not fight when choosing the place, to not argue on something silly on the way home, to not get into anything that ruins the night. No, it is never easy.

But that night was. I was not even dressed for the occasion, but as it turned out, that was not what’s important. It’s being with the right person, in the right moment, and in the right place.

Perfect.
