The Perks of Dressing Up as ‘Corpse Bride’

Last Halloween, I had my first Halloween Party and it was AWESOME!

My friends and I had been planning to go to a Halloween Party and dress up in costumes since we got into College, but the plans keep tanking. Third time is the charm! This year, we finally got to fulfill our Halloween plan.

We picked out Umbra as the-place-to-go. Umbra is this new place in Kemang, a Lounge & Bar who serves Live Music most of the days. They were throwing Haunted Mansion: Skeleton Ball Halloween Party, and we decided that theirs is the party-to-go.

I decided that I want to dress up as Corpse Bride! I’m very skinny, so that’s a start. LOL. I started searching for the right dress and found one with a very cheap price making me not hesitate at all in tearing and making strokes with crayons to make the dress look like it had been buried with a bride for years. I also bought a veil to go with it. I went all out, yes I did.

The best part of the preparation was putting my corpse-y make up! I used white powder, and black eye shadow to make black circles around my eyes. I also put on the eye shadow on my cheekbone, and my nose to show up my bones more. With the last touch of dark red lipstick on my lips, I finished the look, and I looked really spooky! When my boyfriend picked me up, he didn’t even dare to take a glance at me at all. LOL.

Entering the venue, everyone was all dressed up. I spotted Pirates, Robots, Cleopatra, The Joker, Vampires – unique creatures! The decoration was also very well designed creating a pretty spooky ambience. Choosing Umbra was the perfect decision! The place and the crowd was perrrrrfect.

I really think Halloween is a great occasion. If I could, I would love to have Halloween as a 4-times-a-year thing. Figuring out who you’re gonna dress up as, searching for dresses and costumes, putting character make up, was really fun!

Another plus point was Halloween Night was right after our Midterm Test ended. I never really believed it, but dressing up as someone you’re not truly was a great escape!

For the night, I was seen as someone I am not, and who knew how great that would be? I got compliments for my look, and I surely didn’t regret going all out by the slightest bit! The day after, photos of us in the party was uploaded to Facebook, and I was really proud for the look I fitted myself into!

It was my first Halloween Party, I dressed up as Corpse Bride, accompanied by my Groom, and it was AWESOME.

And yeah, there were a lot of dancing.
